RFC dediğimizde aklımıza gelen aslında internetin standartlarıdır. Internet protokolü, mekanizması için bu protokolleri ve mekanizmasını tanımlayan bir RFC vardır.

Örneğin TCP/IP’nin TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) RFC 793’tedir. Hatta detaylı olarak bakacak olursak aşağıdaki gibidir.
